All rods and flies are provided.

Clothing

It is important to always pack a rain jacket. Though it can be warm in September and early October, it is often cool in the mornings so bring a warm jacket. The weather turns noticeably cooler by mid October. During this time storms start coming in from the Pacific. I recommend dressing warmly and bringing good rain gear.

Bring your own waders. If you need to rent I recommend stopping by the Ashland Fly Shop. If you are staying at Morrisons Lodge they have loaner waders available.

If you would like to bring your own equipment here are my suggestions

 Recommended Rods and Lines

I accommodate both single hand and spey rods with my focus being wading and swinging flies.

I recommend 6 -7 wt spey rods in lengths 12”-14”. The predominant line will be Scandi lines used in conjunction with poly leaders. Skagit lines are useful to have around when the water temperatures drop and bigger flies and deeper presentations are used. Mid belly lines up to 60’ can be a good way to go in the Middle Rogue area.

For single hand rods I recommend 7wt rods 9-10 ft. A longer length single hand rod is useful when mending. Both floating and 10-15’ intermediate sink tips lines are useful.

I will have a selection of R.B. Meiser Rods to try out and demo. I have always loved the action and beauty of Meiser’s rods and highly recommend them.

Flies

Flies will be provided, though if you want to bring your on, all normal summer wet fly patterns work in sizes 4 to 8 . The Ashland Fly Shop has a great selection of flies and other equipment. They know the Rogue well and provide excellent advice.
